From Download to Dedication
After trying apps that felt either too scattered or too overloaded, I landed on Peloton. On paper, it checked the boxes I was looking for: strength training, yoga, stretching, outdoor running and walking — all in one place. But I’ll be honest: Peloton’s membership structure has always struck me as a little odd. You can pay for the app and still not get access to all of their content. To me, it feels like there should just be one fee that covers everything, with discounts if you already own their equipment. That said, I don’t know if I would’ve signed up initially if it had been bundled differently. Maybe it worked in my favor.
First Impressions
It wasn’t love at first download. There was definitely a learning curve. I didn’t know where to start, which classes to take, or how to structure a routine. I had some dumbbells and kettlebells, but I was intimidated by certain moves and second-guessing myself constantly. The excitement of starting something new was mixed with this low-level overwhelm of, “Am I even doing this right?”
The Turning Point
That shifted the moment I found Rebecca Kennedy’s strength classes.
Rebecca’s programming is thoughtful and intentional — you can tell she builds her workouts with real strategy behind them. But what stood out most was the way she explained why she chose the moves, how to perform them with proper form, and what to pay attention to as you worked. It wasn’t just “do this, now do that.” It was teaching. It gave me confidence that I wasn’t just moving, but moving correctly — and that confidence kept me coming back. Pretty quickly, Rebecca’s classes became a cornerstone of my routine, and with that came the consistency I had been chasing for years.
What Was Missing
Even with Rebecca’s classes holding me accountable, mornings were still tough. Hitting snooze was too tempting, and I needed more than just solid programming to pull me out of bed at 6 a.m. The workouts themselves were strong, but I found myself searching for that extra spark — the motivation and accountability that could make this sustainable long-term.
Peloton had earned my trust through great programming, but what I needed next wasn’t just a workout — it was a reason to wake up for it.
